About Sarah

Hi! I am Sarah Murphy, a Licensed Professional and Nationally Certified Counselor. I specialize in counseling for people who have cancer or other serious illnesses. In addition, I have advanced training in working with couples. And I love working with individuals who are in transition and ready to create a life they are excited about!

If you are interested in using a holistic, mind-body-spirit approach, we may be a good fit! I am a longtime meditator and am a certified practitioner of EFT, the emotional freedom techniques, which is a holistic and evidence-based tool that is quite effective for trauma (like a cancer diagnosis) and difficult emotions (which often affect our relationships, and our health). My approach to couples therapy draws on evidence-based modalities including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, and Imago Therapy.

In addition to my private practice, I am the staff therapist for Unite for HER, where I provide counseling for people with cancer (breast or ovarian). I also serve on the board of, and chair the research committee for, ACEP, the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology.

My alma mater is The University of Maryland (class of 1991). My master’s degree in counseling psychology is from Immaculata University (2007). In addition to my academic work, I have specialized training in couples therapy, energy psychology, and hypnotherapy. I am also a Reiki Master and yoga teacher (RYT 200).

I am a licensed counselor in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, and Vermont.
